Greek Owl

Design: Piet Design

In ancient Greece, the owl was a symbol of wisdom. The bird was special to Athena, goddess of wisdom and war. She was always depicted with her shield, spear, helmet and owl.

The image of this little owl is based on the owls painted on many ancient Greek small drinking cups, called ‘skyphoi’. One special type of skyphos, with one vertical and one horizontal handle, became known as ‘glaux’, Greek for owl.

This Greek paper owl is easy to put together.
No scissors or glue needed.
Size when built: 4 x 4 x 10 cm.
