Delft blue paper vase ‘Adriaan’

This foldable, octagonal, paper vase has a decoration that is based on the designs of 17th century Delft blue earthenware.

One of the most famous Delftware factories in that century was ‘The Greek A’, which was located on the Lange Geer in the centre of Delft. This factory flourished especially during the ownerschip of Adriaan Kocx (1686-1701). Queen Mary II, the wife of king-stadholder William III was one of his important patrons.

The designs by Adriaan Kocx are well known for their elegant mix of Asian and European motifs.
Today, his work can be found in museums all over the world.
You can usually identify his work by the potter’s mark ‘AK’ on the bottom of the piece.

This paper vase is designed by Elisabeth Rijkels-Visser and therefore has the mark ‘ERV’ on the bottom.

Fill the vase with a bunch of dried flowers or use it empty as a decorative piece.
Or insert a small, tall and narrow,  half-litre (milk)carton with water for fresh flowers. Detailed instructions inside.
